Why do you need to Think Fit in order to Be Fit?

SO often, needing to get fit and/or lose weight is tinged with how we think about ourselves,
which often involves body shame and unrealistic expectations.
Our bodies may feel different since we hit mid-life.
We might feel dismayed at how things have changed.

Perhaps we are battling with weight gain, insomnia, body aches, muscle weakness - our list of symptoms feels endless.
Perhaps we have had a wake-up call, and change feels urgent.

In our rush to get back to the old 'us' we return to previous thinking habits,
We go on cabbage soup diets, cut out whole food groups and get caught in a cycle of denial and rebellion.

We treat our changing body with contempt instead of love.

We find ourself in the comparison game with younger people and celebrities in their 50's with 6-packs.
If they can do it why cant I?

We continue to restrict, exercise like crazy and then fall off the wagon.
We can't keep it up. A repeated cycle of failure commences.
We perpetuate our unhealthy relationship with food and exercise and this all feeds into a negative self image

Do you relate?

I know all this because I have been there too.

This is totally understandable
Other peoples ideas of what we should look like are everywhere.

These images have become engrained in our mindset.
We think we want that too.
But I know this is a faulty starting point for any health and fitness journey.

If we continue with old mindsets, our old habits will remain and change will be short-lived.
We will continue to do what we have always done.
And we will get what we have always got.

We want results that last don't we?

We want to feel and look healthy.
We want to preserve good physical health
We want good mental health and to feel great about ourselves.
We want to be active and physically ready for anything.

We need all of this, particularly at this time of life
when we have SO many demands - elderly parents, work, illness, children -
all needing us.

So let's change the conversation about health and fitness!
Lets re-think what we want and how we get there.
Lets set realistic expectations and goals.
Let's start treating our bodies with love and respect.

Think Fit Be Fit CORE Programmes

B-FIT WOMEN is an affordable small group personal training programme designed especially for women. The majority of the women are experiencing some sort of change, either having children, or approaching menopause. They may be managing a long term medical condition. What these women want is a supportive, appropriate programme of exercise, health and wellbeing that is sustainable with the expertise of a personal trainer. With a small group of other women just like you, you will be supported to meet your health and fitness goals. We work together regularly in my secluded garden gym with a small group of other women.  You will have a programme designed just for you so that you can continue your work with home workouts throughout the week. I offer sensible nutrition advice and targets without faddy diets and you will start to feel healthier and have more energy within weeks. You can mix and match and book Pilates and TRX classes as part of your membership.

I am thinking of starting a B-FIT MEN programme. Contact me for details.

Fitness Pilates is a popular low impact, modern form of body conditioning using traditional pilates moves to support you to strengthen your body and deepen your core strength. The classes are set to music and involves developing whole body mobility and flexibility as well as core strength.

A whole range of the community come to these classes, men, women, younger and older people, manual workers, returners to exercise, and those who are conditioned and passionate about their sport such as cycling. I run classes in person in Chesham, and online.
These are popular classes so be sure to book up to safeguard your place.

TRX or suspension training is a popular low impact, modern form of conditioning using bodyweight and straps that are suspended from a frame (tree, or ceiling) to support you to strengthen your body and deepen your whole body strength. TRX is fantastic also for developing core strength. TRX is suitable for beginners, and those building their mobility, as well as offering a challenging workout for athletes. At the moment I am running very small classes for men and women in my garden gym which is great for personal attention. I am looking for a space that can accommodate a larger group. Contact me if you would like to be kept informed.
